Attorneys general from more than 20 states and the District of Columbia are refiling lawsuits to block the repeal of net neutrality after the proposed new rules were released.

The publication of those new rules starts a 60-day window for legal challenges before they go into effect.

The 2015 rules prohibit internet service providers from blocking, slowing or prioritizing websites and apps. The new rules would be much more lenient, removing the internet's classification as a utility, like a phone line.

Several state governors have written net neutrality executive orders requiring businesses to abide by the Obama-era standards.
