Vladimir Putin: Russia Will Charge Election Meddlers On One Condition

Russian President Vladimir Putin says the Russians indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller would only face charges in their home country if they violated the laws there.

Putin made those comments to NBC's Megyn Kelly. He said if those indicted didn't violate Russian laws, "there is no reason for indicting them."

Mueller charged 13 Russians and three Russian entities with conspiring to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, among other indictments.

Putin claimed those charged "do not represent the interests of the Russian state."

After that report, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats told a Senate panel it's "highly likely" Russia will try to interfere in the 2018 midterm elections.
