North Korea has reportedly tested a "newly developed ultramodern tactical weapon" with leader Kim Jong-un there to witness it.

State media reported Friday the test was successful. It didn't give specifics about the weapon beyond saying the system was one Kim's father and predecessor, Kim Jong-il, had "personally" directed the creation of.

Multiple outlets noted this was the first time Kim's visited one of his country's military testing sites since meeting with President Donald Trump back in June.

Those unprecedented talks ended with Kim recommitting to "complete denuclearization" and President Trump pledging "security guarantees" to North Korea.

A North Korean Foreign Ministry official recently warned Pyongyang could restart developing nuclear weapons if the U.S. doesn't remove economic sanctions. But there's no indication yet that this newly reported test involved nuclear weapons.

A State Department spokesman responded to the KCNA report saying, "We remain confident that the promises made by President Trump and Chairman Kim will be fulfilled."
