G7 Leaders Condemn Khashoggi's Death In 'Strongest Possible Terms'

The members of the G7 collectively condemned the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. 

In a statement Tuesday morning, representatives of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the U.S. and the European Union said they condemn his death "in the strongest possible terms."

Saudi Arabia claims Khashoggi died during a fight inside the country's consulate in Istanbul. But that explanation is highly suspect. Turkey insists Saudi Arabia planned his murder, calling it "savage."

The G7 statement said: "Those responsible for the killing must be held to account. Saudi Arabia must put in place measures to ensure something like this can never happen again."

The leaders also called for protecting journalists and freedom of expression around the world.
