Facebook knows kids love using the latest tech, but many parents worry about safety online. With that in mind, the social media giant is previewing a new app called Messenger Kids.

The gist is children get to video chat and message all they want — but only with contacts their parents approve. Adults get full access to their child's account via the normal Facebook app.

Plus, there are no ads in the Messenger Kids app.

Facebook says it spoke to thousands of parents, parenting experts and associations, like the National PTA, while developing the app.

Right now, this app is only available in the U.S. and can be found on the Apple App Store.
