Briana KoenemanApple is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to stop a group of its customers from suing the company over its App Store.
The high court is scheduled to hear oral arguments in the case Monday. The class-action lawsuit in question accuses Apple of violating antitrust laws by monopolizing the market for iPhone apps and jacking up prices for those apps.
A lower court decided to let a group of iPhone users file the suit last year. And now, Apple is asking the Supreme Court to overturn that decision.
Apple has a lot on the line here. The App Store generated more than $11 billion in revenue for the company in 2017. A ruling against Apple could cost the tech giant some serious money in damages and hurt its App Store cash flow.
The Supreme Court is expected to make a decision in the case in June.
