Two American soldiers and two U.S. citizens were killed in an explosion in Syria Wednesday.

According to a statement from U.S. Central Command, one civilian was from the Department of Defense and the other was a contractor supporting the agency. The names of the victims are being withheld until their families are notified.

Three American service members were injured and at least 10 other people were killed in the explosion, which officials say is under investigation. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the blast.

CNN says before this explosion, only two U.S. service members had died in action in Syria since the operation started in 2014. President Donald Trump has been briefed on the situation.

As Newsy previously reported, the attack comes less than a month after the president announced the U.S. would start withdrawing troops from Syria. The U.S. started the process of withdrawing troops from the country last week.
