The war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip was prompted after the terrorist organization launched a surprise attack on the country on Oct. 7. Hamas killed more than 1,000 Israelis and took nearly 200 hostages. Israel has retaliated in what it says is an attempt to dismantle Hamas. The Gaza Health Ministry reports that more than 2,500 Palestinians have been killed since the conflict began.
